Vegan Guide to St. John U.S.V.I

Vegan Guide to St. John U.S.V.I

Happy Sunday wanderers and welcome back to another blogpost! My family and I have been visiting St. John is the US Virgin Islands for years and I thought it was time I finally made a vegan guide. It is important to note that my most current visit was during low season so not every restaurant was open. Therefore, the vegan options on St. John include but definitely are not limited to what I have written about in this post! Please also take into consideration that in the restaurant industry things are ever-changing. Please always confirm with your server that something is vegan prior to ordering.

That being said I hope you enjoy this post and find it helpful and enjoy your trip to the US Virgin Islands!

The Longboard

Soba Noodles Bowl with Portabella Mushrooms $17.00

Although not overly apparent on the menu, The Longboard does have vegan options. Under their Tacos & Bowls options, you will find grilled portabella and roasted cauliflour. These can be “veganized” in the form of a taco or bowl with brown rice & quinoa or added on-top of one of the Poke Bowl bases which include sushi rice, soba noodles and the option of local greens! Ask your server how to veganize your preferred combination! My soba noodles were made with soy sauce in place of the typical fish sauce.

The Tap Room- St. John Brewers

Jerk Carib-Vegan Pizza $14.00

The Tap Room, on top of Mongoose Junction, has a couple of great vegan options which they kindly label on the menu. The offerings include, homemade hummus, the impossible burger and the above pictured pizza! This pizza offers Caribbean flavors of jerk-cauliflower and mango chunks. It’s the pizza comnination you never knew you needed.

The Impossible Burger $17.00

Just substitute the vegan patty on the Taproom Burger, add your choice of toppings and choose from a side of chips, corn or broccoli. Avocado is an extra charge, but totally worth it.

Rumb Lines

Tofu Pad Thai $23.00

Located in Coral Bay, Rhumb Lines is one of my favorite restaurants on island! Various things on the menu can be made vegan including this killer tofu pad Thai. Although the price may seem steep, it is definitely two portions! Ask your server about the other vegan options, if my memory serves they had a couple of other noodle options as well as lemongrass & tofu cakes!

Sam and Jack’s deli

The Angelina Wrap $11

Located on the 3rd floor of The Marketplace, Sam & Jack’s deli is your perfect grab and go lunch for the beach. I grabbed the Angelina, which features ginger-hoisin marinated tofu, alfalfa sprouts, shredded carrots and toasted peanuts. There are also a couple of other vegan salad and sandwich options!

Greengos Caribbean catina

Tofu Tacos $14

Located in Mongoose Junction, Greengos offers flavor and flair to any evening on vacation. I loved the tofu tacos. Skip the aioli and cheese, add guac, and you’re good to go! The tofu was seasoned and seared to perfection, the best on island. Luckily the guacamole is dairy free, so load up on that! We were also able to veganize the nachos.

Morgan’s Mango

Morgan’s Vegetarian Plate $20

Morgan’s is my favorite restaurant for a bit of a fancier meal and atmosphere. The vegetarian plate features quinoa risotto, Josephine’s local organic greens, fried sweet plantains, Morgan’s black beans, fresh seasonal vegetables & truffle mashed sweet potatoes. No funky substitutions or exclusions needed, it’s already vegan. The servers here are also super professional and friendly, it is a must stop for your trip!

Our Market Smoothies

Adjustments.jpeg

Our market smoothies is your one stop shop for a perfect cold beverage! They have a wide variety of healthy fruit smoothies (with the option to add in rum), fresh coconuts and classic island cocktails. BYOC to skip the styrofoam and skip the straw. Their drinks are amazing and island-famous.

Irie pops

Adjustments.jpeg

On your walk from Cruz Bay downtown to Mongoose junction you will spot this brightly colored popsicle shop! They have a variety of flavors which are all locally made, gluten free and vegan. They even have some CBD infused pops. I enjoyed the strawberries and coconut cream flavor with blue spirulina.

I hope you enjoyed my vegan guide to St. John in the U.S. Virgin Islands! Have you been? What are your favorite vegan finds on island? Let me know in the comments below.
