Vegan Eats & Shopping Finds NYC
Happy Sunday wanderers! I hope everyone is having a relaxing weekend. Last weekend I visited NYC with my entire family to see my neighbor in an off-broadway show. We have been watching him act in school plays since he was young and it was nice to see him get his first big break. We decided to make a weekend out of it to celebrate mine and my mother's birthdays. It was a quick two day trip but it was filled with shopping, vegan food and fun.
Bareburger
Bareburger is a great restaurant to visit if you are in NYC. There are seemingly countless locations in NYC but we went to the one in Hell's Kitchen. This was a perfect choice for my family which consists of vegans, plant-based dieters, gluten free and meat eaters. There is something for everyone. They have both beyond burgers and the impossible burger and their overall mission as a company focuses on organic and sustainable ingredients. I built my own burger with the impossible patty, vegan American cheese, pickles & LTO. The staff is friendly and the environment is relaxed, I highly recommend. Explore their menu here!
Outfit
For our night out to the theatre I chose this black jumpsuit from Express in Times Square that I picked up for $80. That was quite a splurge for me but it's a timeless piece that I know I will wear for more future special occasions. I kept the rest of the outfit blacked out with a simple bag and chunky heels. Accenting the outfit with jewlery and a bold lip to match my nails finished the look.
Soho Snaps
I snapped a few quick pics during our morning spent in Soho. I loved this abandoned and decorated bicycle as well as the celebratory flags for Cinco de Mayo.
DŌ
By the request of my sister we stopped for a snack at DO. This place serves scoops of cookie dough as if its ice cream! To my delight they did have two vegan flavors, classic chocolate chip and peanut butter snickerdoodle. I sampled both and opted for the classic. Although delicious, I couldn't even finish the smallest size, it was too decedent and rich. The interior of the shop is adorable and definitely calls for some photo opportunities. I recommend stopping in for a sample and to snap some pictures if nothing else. Check out their website here!
Fun Jewelry NYC
Anyone that knows me knows that I'm a sucker for jewlery. I added to my collection while browsing the open air markets of Soho. The purple beaded buddha bracelet, the turquoise beads and the lotus ring are all from Fun Jewelry NYC. Among other jewlery vendors she had the cutest layout and best deals. The braclets were $3 a piece and the ring was $5. Definitely check her out over on Instagram, although I do have to say I was more impressed with her display in person than with her online stock.
By Chloe
Before leaving on Sunday, of course I had to indulge in some more delicious vegan food. I remember when I first went vegan By Chloe was only in California and I always dreamed of trying it one day. Now I can have it anytime I'm in Providence, NYC or Boston. They just keep growing and it's for good reason, their food is delicous. My dad and I split two sandwiches and two sides and also got cupcakes to go. I recommend getting fries just so you have something to dip into their amazing beet ketchup and chipotle aioli specialty sauces. Both sandwiches were good but I think that the Pesto Meatball had a lot more going for it & was more memorable than the Whiskey BBQ. I definitely recommend the Mac N' Cheese, the shiitake bacon is very unique. For $3.75 I got the raspberry tiramisu cupcake which tasted as amazing as it looks. The frosting had an identical taste to honeycomb candies and I loved the fresh raspberry filling! Explore their menu here!
Victoria Secret x Balmain
Although fashion isn't a huge interest of mine I really enjoyed browsing the Victoria Secret x Balmain fashion show archive. It was located on the third floor of the Victoria Secret on 5th ave. I snapped a few iPhone shots of my favorite looks. Did you know that this was the first time Victoria's Secret teamed up with a high end fashion designer for their iconic fashion show and collaborated on a shop-able range as well?
I hope you enjoyed my recap of my weekend in NYC.
